My Favourite Authors

Like many writers, I love to read the genre I write in but I also enjoy other forms and particularly admire the crossover genre. I think my all-time favourite author in this field is Barbara Erskine. Her book, Lady of Hay, was given to me a few years ago by a friend who said it was one of the best novels she had read in a long while. I read it and agreed. Barbara Erskine is a master of the craft and a born story-teller. I have since bought every one of her books and, inevitably, nearing Christmas, I head to my local bookstore to see if another book by Barbara Erskine is due out. Another of my favourite genres is allegory and I do not need to think before I say the uncrowned `King’ has to be William Horwood with his Duncton mole series. I highly recommend these fabulous tales to anyone who enjoys a really good read that will transport the reader into another world where man is animal.
When it comes to mystery, a particularly favourite author is Robert Goddard and his mix of historical/present mysteries. The way he takes an old crime or mystery and entwines it with someone’s life struggles today, makes for  gripping reading. I read a lot and have many authors, whose books I can never pass by; authors like Danielle Steel, Judith Lennox, Kate Morton, Kimberley Freeman, Maeve Binchy, Charlotte Bingham . More to follow…
